Speaker A:No, because this episode is no different. It's that time of year. It's that good, good time where the snow is falling here in Southern California. That chilly time of the year when.
Speaker C:It gets down to 62.
Speaker A:You smell a nice fire coming from a chimney and you panic because you think it's a forest fire in your backyard. Something I've been dealing with with my neighbors for the past two months. But Christmas in La. We're here. We're ready to talk Christmas. What do we have going on this week, friends?
Speaker B:It's a movie that came recommended to us from our friend Stephen Moore. Right. On Twitter.
Speaker C:I was trying to think of that. We're not by our usual computer, so I don't have the appropriate data.
Speaker A:No, it took me like, five minutes to work up. How do I introduce this show? Not in my one setting.
Speaker C:I do this in we're out of our elements. Yes. It's recommended by seeing more. And it's also the only Christmas anime we had. So we're watching it for the Christmas episode because we're not doing a month of this shit anymore. We ran out.
Speaker A:No, we jumped the gun.
Speaker C:Burnt too bright. So we saved it for the one with the actual Christmas in the week of episode.
Speaker B:Still haven't said what it is.
Speaker A:Oh, right.
Speaker C:Tokyo godfather. There's multiple you can see in the poster. It's hard to do because it's visual now. And I'm relying on the visual element of my cohost, not the podcast. Yeah. Tokyo godfathers. It was made by the same director as Perfect Blue. Good track record we got.
Speaker B:Yeah, I can't wait to be spooks.
Speaker C:A lot of psychological psychedelic murders.
Speaker B:Lots of chanting. Scary chanting.
Speaker C:Lot of weird SVU vibes. Hopefully, give me marisha hargate in an anime.
Speaker A:That's all I need.
Speaker B:Is that what you want for Christmas?
Speaker A:Yes. I've been writing Santa every day. She's my dick wolf white. Oh, my God. Never say that sentence again.
Speaker B:That's bad.
Speaker A:I think we found the episode already. Write that one taken.
Speaker C:Well, I'm not familiar with this. Besides just I've heard good things.
Speaker B:The only reason I've heard of it is because we talked about it last year.
Speaker A:Yeah, because we're like Christmas movie and we're like, here's Christmas every year. We'll get to it.
Speaker C:Yeah, there's plenty of Christmas anime. We'll be fine. Are arrogance outrageous.
Speaker A:But yeah, I got nothing. I got that research when we were looking at it last year and that's about all I got.
Speaker B:Nice going in slightly blind.
Speaker C:That hasn't backfired on us at all recently.
Speaker B:Especially not last Christmas, the Lost episode that was released.
Speaker A:We didn't do a Christmas episode. We didn't do Christmas. What are you talking about?
Speaker C:That cryptic Lost episode that no one ever heard because we did fully release it.
Speaker B:Boy, it would have been fun if it was our they just didn't do a Christmas episode.
Speaker C:Their first year killing retroactively just burned that episode. Like, yeah, our metrics are fucked. There's just this black hole in the middle at the end of December.
Speaker B:So weird.
Speaker C:What happens. Our podcast caught fire.
Speaker A:Are we there yet? That burned down. Well, shall we?
Speaker B:I'm ready. Let's get into the Christmas spirit.
Speaker A:Let's get all jingly the fire. There's a lot going on here.
Speaker B:There's a lot going on here.
Speaker C:Some turns quite liberally.
Speaker B:Yes, we checked how long it had been and I could have sworn it had been half an hour and it had been 14 minutes to the film.
Speaker C:At my little notebook. I think I'm running out of pages. I got like a little novel here. Just summarizing it.
Speaker A:No. Yeah, this comes out as fast and hard. So if it sounds like a jumble, we're struggling to recap it too. And we just watched it.
Speaker B:Sorry.
Speaker A:So shall we dive on in?
Speaker B:Let's get started.
Speaker A:So, yeah, we start out where we're seeing a little nativity scene, a little Christmas pageant going on. This is a Christmas sermon at a homeless shelter and we see our main characters watching the festivities. We have hana, who is a trans woman, and Gin, who is a man. He's a drunk old man.
Speaker B:Drunk old homeless man.
Speaker A:And we'll get to her in a little second. But we also have our third member Christmas spirit. No. Yeah. The Holy Ghost teen runaway named Miyuki. So they're gathered, waiting to get food. They're bringing food back to Miyuki where they meet up in an alley and they bicker. They have a fun found family fighting stuff, you know.
Speaker B:We have a found family too, though.
Speaker C:Even found families fight at Christmas.
Speaker A:It's wonderful. But yeah, we'll address right at the top. There's a lot of light hearted homophobia, light heart. Yeah. Because clearly these characters care about each other. But a lot of slurs get used.
Speaker C:I know that jen in particular would respect hannah's honorific and call her Hannah chan, but still just casually whip out Slurs.
Speaker A:Yeah, what's happening? slur is misgendering.
Speaker B:But yeah, he's a super sundare.
Speaker C:Just hardcore drunk.
Speaker B:Sooner a nasty boy, sooner you've got nothing.
Speaker C:I have nothing.
Speaker A:So, yeah, they bring food back, they eat together and then they're out looking for presents. So they're going digging through the trash. They find a series of collection of literature that Hannah gives to miuki. And they're wrestling in the garbage, and they hear some crying.
Speaker C:What? The trash is alive.
Speaker B:And then it's over.
Speaker A:They kill the trash. It goes to a better place, and we're done. All right. But no. They find a baby in the garbage. Garbage Baby.
Speaker B:Garbage Baby.
Speaker A:Trash Baby.
Speaker B:In my notes I wrote trash, baby.
Speaker A:Why don't we name the podcast that? Trash Baby. We're watching Trash baby. He shot down my pitch, that's why. So they find this baby in the garbage. Some cryptic clues in its blanket as well. But.
Speaker C:Some natural treasure. The baby is trying to tell me something.
Speaker A:Invisible ink.
Speaker C:And putting it over a fire. Getting the ink to reveal this baby.
Speaker A:Wants us to steal the Declaration of Independence.
Speaker B:After that, it starts speaking perfect English.
Speaker A:You found my secret.
Speaker C:Hello, Benjamin. You found me.
Speaker B:It's a sleeper agent, so it sleeps a lot.
Speaker C:This is going to be very derailed. With us in the same room.
Speaker A:Hannah says, oh, holy shit. This baby is a gift from God. I'm I'm keeping it. I'm naving it. kyoko. This is my baby. kyoko. Yeah.
Speaker C:Get on board. Keep the photo out. yo.
Speaker A:So they take the baby back to their encampment in the park where it can't stop crying. And they're all in. Well, Gin and nuki are in agreement that this is no place for a baby. Let's take it to the police, because someone's probably looking for it. Well, yeah, someone threw away their baby. But it's good to not have the baby in the garbage.
Speaker B:Hey, you wanted this, right? You left your baby in the garbage pile.
Speaker A:Meant to put her in the recycling. Damn it.
Speaker C:Got to separate them.
Speaker A:Wait, then who did I drop off to? Jake.
Speaker B:That's how close the pokemon rubbish.
Speaker C:Travis trubbish was born. This is my trash baby trubbish.
Speaker A:But Hannah is like, you evil people. This is Christmas. I'm not going to have this baby's Christmas associated with being abandoned to the police. Let's go tomorrow because I wanted to at least have a non traumatic night for the best night on what terrible.
Speaker C:Foreshadowing it feels like.
Speaker A:It was so long ago now, and.
Speaker B:I'm thinking about.
Speaker A:Yeah. This autocorrected I wrote at this point, I didn't know everyone's name, so I just wrote, Team goes to Get Supplies. And it just changed it to ateam. Mr. T goes to the store, but.
Speaker C:He has to fly there, so they have to knock him out because he's afraid of flying. There's a deep at cut for just no one.
Speaker A:Just no one.
Speaker C:I don't want this.
Speaker A:Muki goes to get supplies, runs into some other homeless people and is like, hey, you hang out with that Gin? No good. I'm walking in. Hey, I'm in Tokyo.
Speaker B:You know, that's what they would sound.
Speaker A:Like if this was dark.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:So as Miyuki is out getting supplies, we get some backstory on jin, who's talking about his old life and his pre homeless days, where he had a wife and kid, but he was a bicycle racer and he decided to throw a game so he could win a bet. And he was found out banned from the league, and his wife and child died, so he has nowhere to go. So backstory there, they go to bed, and in the morning, Hannah has taken kyoko and Ran. Yeah, ran. Basically saying, just kidding, this is my baby now.
Speaker C:Got you, my baby's. My baby now.
Speaker A:But, yeah, so she decides, I need to confront the mother and we need to find her and be like, hey, what the fuck? I need to find out the reasoning. You threw this baby in the garbage because I need that peace of mind as well.
Speaker C:Yeah, we kind of get a hint that it's similar to hannah's upbringing up on the streets and abandoned by the mother.
Speaker B:Yeah, she says she doesn't want kyoko to be passed around to foster homes.
Speaker A:Yeah. So they're off looking to find the mother. And the cryptic clues that they had was they found, like a key, a couple of pictures of the parents.
Speaker C:I think it was just the key with the baby. And then they take the key to a train station locker.
Speaker A:Okay. Yeah, I was going to ask for help because I got turned around here. So yeah, the key goes to a train station locker where they find more things of, like photos and all that stuff.
Speaker C:Business card for a hostess club where you get a bunch of little tasty snack cakes.
Speaker A:Yes. And nothing else. Nothing else. So, yeah, they are off to find this hostess club, so they're going across town. So they decide to get on a train, which of course gets delayed due to the snow because it's the day after Christmas. Remember, it always snows on Christmas.
Speaker C:Got to happen.
Speaker B:Got that? Magic.
Speaker C:Oh, yeah.
Speaker A:I should also mention here that we got the backstory of Miyuki, who's a teen runaway. So, yeah, Miyuki has run away from her parents and is out on the streets and has been for like six months. So she's hiding. But as this train is delayed, another train pulls up next to it and her dad recognizes her.
Speaker B:Yikes.
Speaker A:And is shouting, trying to get her attention. So muki does what anyone would do in an awkward situation and climbs out of the subway climb.
Speaker B:I actually really liked this part just because I thought it really showed the anxiety she was feeling, like, visually, because it kept switching from the people staring at them and then to her father on the phone, and then to the baby crying, all of this stuff at once.
Speaker C:It all builds very nicely. Like, God, I would do anything to get off that train as well.
Speaker B:And then she climbs off the train.
Speaker A:Out the window, so everyone else follows like, great, all the money we had went to that train ticket. So I guess we're walking now. And then they keep on walking.
Speaker C:They discover a little graveyard.
Speaker A:Yeah. Just as Hannah is like, oh, I can't go any further. I'm a goner. Take the baby. They find a graveyard. So they go in and they start going through all of the offerings left for the dead.
Speaker C:Like any good adventurers, they lose the body.
Speaker A:Yes, of course, gin finds some gin and starts drinking and just gets very drunk and is immediately like, this is a stupid waste of time. You're not going to find anything. This baby has no food. What are you going to do? You're not a good mom. blah, blah, blah. All this just mean drunk stuff. And in a moment of serendipity, someone left offerings of baby supplies on a grave.
Speaker B:Thank goodness.
Speaker C:Which real sad.
Speaker A:Real sad. You stop and think.
Speaker C:You're like, oh, they found baby supplies in this.
Speaker A:Oh, I wonder who is getting this. A nanny who is so yeah, they find some supplies. So a little hope comes and Hannah is still into the idea that this baby is a messenger from God.
Speaker C:Speaking of that, when they first find the baby, as they're walking back to their encampment, we see like a paint bucket fall and it just misses Hannah who's holding the baby. And then as hannah's walking in the street, she stops and turns around. And right as she turns around, like a shopping cart or something goes flying past where she would have been if she kept walking. Kind of shows. But it hits other people and the paint falls on hits like Miyuki and Gin behind her. So it kind of shows. Like with the baby, she actually is being saved from these little innocents and maybe actually might be a newborn baby Jesus.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's all ambiguous. Any baby found on Christmas is Jesus. I've read the Bible. I know how this works.
Speaker B:But I believe you. I haven't oh God, no, I haven't.
Speaker C:Touched it.
Speaker A:Assume I did no actual research on my own about religion. Anyway, so they keep on walking, newly found supplies in hand. And they pass by an abandoned car in the middle of an alley.
Speaker B:This is so good.
Speaker A:So they're like, awesome idiot. Just parked here blocking the road. And they go past it and they see a portly man stuck underneath it with the car slowly rolling over him. Oh man. So the three of them team up to push this car off of him. He profusely thanks them he was driving, got stuck in the snow, forgot to put on the parking brake. And a woman with like a little dog accidentally bumps the car and pushes it on him. Just fucking leaves him there.
Speaker C:Keeps on going.
Speaker A:Just abandons him.
Speaker B:Didn't even notice him.
Speaker A:So yeah, he is like deeply in their debt, thanking them. And they happen to notice that he is going to the same place. They're going, like, the same part of town where this hostess club is. So they hitch a ride with him, and as they're talking about why they're going to this hostess club, he's like, oh, wow, that's crazy. My daughter is marrying the manager of that place today.
Speaker B:We're going to the wedding right now.
Speaker A:Right now.
Speaker C:You're welcome to come. Three homeless people and a baby.
Speaker A:So they go across town talking about the wedding and all this stuff, and it turns out he's like a crime lord. Of course, as you do it's, kind crime lord. Very chill.
Speaker C:It's the day of his daughter's wedding.
Speaker A:I'm so mad. So mad.
Speaker B:Oh my God.
Speaker C:Oh, Jesus. I lost all my nose.
Speaker A:It is wow. We are down. There's a lot happening in this movie.
Speaker C:Like, it's hitting us, like, bit by bit. Like, we're processing it with you as we're recounting it.
Speaker B:Yeah, like, I was like, me with the whole 1225, the numbers 1225 kept coming up, and I was like, oh, what a coincidence. And then dugan was like, yeah, the Christmas Christmas.
Speaker A:I was like, December 25. Oh, shit.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker A:But yeah, it pops up a lot. It's like on the locker key. It's like a recurring cab number, the time when things happen. So yeah, they go to the wedding just as out of coincidence. The man's daughter is named kyoko. So they're like, another good sign from this heaven baby.
Speaker B:She looks beautiful in her wedding dress.
Speaker A:So they're smoothing around some of the corrupt. Yeah.
Speaker C:Jin sees the groom.
Speaker A:Gin sees the groom, who he identifies as the man who made him throw the bike race. So he's out to go get his revenge. He's about to go confront him. And then a waitress comes out of nowhere with a gun and tries to shoot the crime lord of Portly dad, man, but the handsome bike fixer guy groom. Yeah. This all happens in a span of 30 seconds. So let me try to say this coherently. So yeah, jim goes to confront confront the groom. The waitress is about to shoot the crime lord. The groom gets pushed in the way of the bullet and gets shot. And then the waitress starts trying to get out of there, takes miyoko as a hostage with or miyuki and kyoko. Hey, miyoko. Yeah, miyoko their their ship name.
Speaker C:No, I was going to say about ko.
Speaker B:Just a good combination of their names.
Speaker C:Yeah. Sister. The sister ship.
Speaker B:No?
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker B:It's all got to be yeah.
Speaker A:Miyuki and kyoko are taken hostage as they run out of there. The waitress takes off a wig is Spanish men who only speak Spanish and takes them out of there, while jin and Hannah chase them as they get into a cab, but they lose them. I said I was going to try to say this coherently, and I feel like I fail.
Speaker C:You try.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Rough.
Speaker C:I also realized while you're recounting it, we never really get a conclusion with the Spanish man trying to kill crime. And I was like, what happened with that? So much is going on. I immediately forgot it when he was off camera.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's vaguely mentioned later on as, like a news report callback of, like, oh, this crime thing is happening. Like a war between families. But that's as much closure as we can.
Speaker C:Got you.
Speaker A:But, yeah, everyone knows the Latin Kings.
Speaker C:Are real big in Japan.
Speaker B:So now we're with Hannah and Jean, and they argue some more. Every time they argue, it's kind of about the same thing, so we don't really have to get into it. It's always just about whether or not they're going to keep the baby. And then Hannah runs off. And it was at this point that I was like, oh, they're in love with each other 100%. So now we're with Gene on his own, and he's wandering the streets drunk, kind of talking down on himself, talking about how no one cares about him, stuff like that.
Speaker A:I'm the trash man.
Speaker B:I get in the ring. I saw you in guard. And then he sees another homeless man laying in the middle of the street, and he goes over to him and turns him over, and it's a very old man, and he's obviously on his last leg. And he asks Jean for a favor.
Speaker A:And he's like, what is it?
Speaker B:He's like, Can I have a sip of your drink?
Speaker C:Can I get wrong?
Speaker B:Please?
Speaker A:I got to get a little schwaisted on this journey over.
Speaker B:And then we're briefly back with Miyuki, and she's been taken somewhere in a cab with the shooter man. And then we're back and we're with the homeless man in his hut, which I don't know if either of you have seen hal's moving. Castle yes. It reminded me very much of hal's room.
Speaker C:It was very packed with stuff. But I'm claustrophobic, so I kind of got this up. But it was also cozy packed, like.
Speaker A:Cozy order, but yeah, and there was.
Speaker B:Like a bunch of motion statues outside made of metal and stuff.
Speaker C:Oh, yeah, like pinwheels and stuff.
Speaker B:Yeah. So, yeah, we're in his little home, and he says he always wanted to die drunken in a nice house. And he said, at least I'm halfway there, because he is drunk.
Speaker C:I thought the house was nice.
Speaker A:It's a nice house for being homeless. It ain't bad.
Speaker B:Yeah. And then he just kind of talks to Jean and tells him that he reminds him of a younger version of himself. And I really thought once he first turned him over, I was like, Is this a hallucination? Is he seeing himself?
Speaker C:Yeah, it's all foreshadowing.
Speaker A:Yeah, but he's real.
Speaker B:And then he says, can you do me one more favor? And he hands gina bag and tells him to get rid of it. And then he says, can you do me one more favor? And gina is just like, what? He's like, Can I have more your drink. And then he drinks it, and then he dies.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And then we're back with Miyuki again, and she is with a woman who is breastfeeding her baby, presumably. And the other one, kyoko, that's the name.
Speaker C:Double fist and baby.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:And we get the excellent line because, of course, they had to show the titty. And she just says, Big breasts. Cool. I love that.
Speaker B:That's really how women talk about each other. Come on.
Speaker A:Nice.
Speaker B:And so then there's, like this is so lit. It's both of them not speaking each other's language. Like, very little broken English. Just having, like, a bonding moment and having, like, a bonding conversation because there's pictures of the woman's family. And she, like, points to one, she's speaking Spanish, and she says, oh, that's my dad. And then in English, she says, policeman or Japanese. Does she?
Speaker C:Well, they're speaking Japanese.
Speaker A:Yeah, she says it in Japanese whenever they're speaking Spanish. We don't have the English subtitles because the characters don't get it. But once she says policeman and Japanese, we got the English subtitle.
Speaker B:Yeah, I guess I got confused, too, because muki responds in English. She says, My father was a policeman, but again, like, broken English. So, yeah, they have that moment. And then we're shown Gene getting beaten up by some nasty kids just having a time with him. And they, like, drag the man's body out of his home. And it's like, wow, could you not? Boys suck. Men ain't shipped. And then they get a call. This was an interesting one. They get a call, and he's like, oh, let's go drinking with kyo. And I was like, another one. But also, why then why do they also have a kyo?
Speaker C:Kio'S a good name.
Speaker B:Yeah, I guess it's a good thing because they left.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:Kyo.
Speaker A:That is their oldest name. kevin's Gift.
Speaker C:I guess the old man was already dead before he got beaten.
Speaker B:And then hana is in the cab that took Miyuki. She took note of the number, which was 1225. And so she got in it and told him to take her to muki. And she hears a newscast about the shooting. And then we're shown more of muki and the woman just talking about bonding. Yeah, bonding. Talking about their lives.
Speaker C:Gals being pal.
Speaker A:Check. I guess that's a reach. I mean, a lot of this movie is gals being pals, if that's our classification.
Speaker B:Yeah. And so muki has pictures of her family and pictures of what she used to look like, and she has a picture of her and her dad, but her dad's face is crossed out, and that's when we find out that she stabbed him. And that's why she does not want to go home.
Speaker A:Sometimes you got to know age.
Speaker B:Yeah, she did some shit.
Speaker C:Her dad crossed her. A monopoly.
Speaker B:That was my property. I was either going to, say boardwalk or Park Place because if you land.
Speaker C:On it, you're fucked. Like, just came it over.
Speaker B:Yeah. And so then Hannah is dropped off where muki was dropped off, and Hannah is, like, running to find muki, and she does that thing, classic movie thing, where she coughs and there's blood, so we know something's wrong with hana. And then from that, we get a flashback of muki stabbing her father. And it seems as though she stabbed him because she thinks they did something with her cat, like he got rid of it or something.
Speaker C:I'm hoping, like, pets are very valid. I'm hoping there's more to the story than just like, hey, dad, where's my cat? Oh, it's gone stab. I hope there's more to that.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:I'd be really mad if my dad did something to my cat, but I.
Speaker C:Wouldn'T stab him that's quick to jump.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Especially if it's just, where is he, you're bastard?
Speaker C:We want to go outside.
Speaker B:So I let him out, and then she turns around and it's hana. Her mother is now Hannah holding kyoko and her father is Jean, her son family. Yeah. And then she wakes up and it was a dream. And then Hannah finds them because kyoko's started crying. yay.
Speaker C:Loud baby.
Speaker B:Loud baby.
Speaker A:Always helpful. Yes.
Speaker B:And then we see Jean, and he's very beat up, bleeding a bunch. And then I thought this was interesting. I don't know why they left that woman's place like miuki and hana. Why didn't they stay there with the baby? It was warm, and there was a mother there that could feed her, like.
Speaker C:The outside of the apartment, she steps on a needle and something else. Not great, but we saw what it was inside and it's like it's a lot better than what they got back at the park.
Speaker A:At least this is our base of operations for a vet. Well, I guess since I guess dad or the husband took her hostage. Yeah. Sort of wanted by the police. That's probably not the greatest place to hang out.
Speaker B:That's true.
Speaker A:But even then, no one really knows where that is.
Speaker B:Yeah. But they go back to where Hannah last saw Jean, and he's not there. And they overhear some dudes walking by and they talk about a dead homeless man.
Speaker A:And they're immediately like, My boy.
Speaker B:And then they see the covered body, and hana goes up to him and he's like, oh, no, she sorry. She's like, oh, no, my man, he's dead. And then she pulls the sheet down a little bit and trades that. It's the old man. Yeah. And then miuki kind of makes fun of her because you lovely love with him, but he is in pretty bad shape. And he's, like, alone in an alleyway, and he cries about kyoko. And then he sees an angel, and she says, do you want my magic or an ambulance? And he says, an ambulance.
Speaker A:And she's like, what the hell? You bastard.
Speaker C:It'D be great if I could transform into a magical girl, but I'm still bleeding out here.
Speaker B:I mean, that's pretty much what happened to mommy.
Speaker A:The angel. Cuba, anyway.
Speaker B:And then Hannah and muki are kind of walking around, thinking about where they should stay. And then hana is like, I got a place. And she knocks on the door, and the person who answers is like, Hannah. And then Hannah is like, I'm sorry I left. I don't know. And she, like, calls the owner. Yeah, the owner, the person at the door. She calls her mother and stuff, and they have a teary reunion. They're glad to see each other, and then they can see inside that that's where Jean ended up. The angel was someone in a costume for this little bar, and they let him in because he said that he knew hana. I took the note. It's a nice little bar with some friendly gaze. That's pretty much all it is. And that's all you need.
Speaker A:We all need a good Christmas trans bar. Yeah.
Speaker B:And then Hannah had the conversation with the owner about the death of someone named Ken. It's left a little unclear, but she kind of says that she's been lost without him. And we have another flashback of hana performing in drag. And there's a patron that heckles her, and she says, like, listen, I can take most of what you said, but not a dog. And then she just beats him. And it's that's why she didn't go back. Similar to Miyuki. She she hurt somebody. And even though she would have been welcomed back, she didn't think she would. So they have that in common.
Speaker C:I just got it.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:There's a lot in this movie. There is there are layers.
Speaker B:And then the club owner is like, oh, that little thing? We just gave him some money.
Speaker A:Yeah, no, that was fine. Like, the day after.
Speaker B:Yeah, don't worry about it. And then the club owner asks Hannah about the baby, and she says, oh, we found it in the garbage. And it reminds me of me, and I just didn't want to see that happen to her. And then we were shown hana washing jean's clothes, and while he was at the homeless man's hut, he found, like, a postcard or something with a couple of towers on it that were also in a picture of the couple that they think the baby belongs to. So hana finds that in his clothes, and they use it to go try and find the parents. And there's a travel montage.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:And I would walk 500 miles.
Speaker C:I mean, that song probably would have been relevant at the time of this movie because I think it takes place, like, the 80s missed opportunity.
Speaker A:Well, we see people on smaller cell phones. Oh, you don't know.
Speaker C:You see me peek dad on the cell phone. That's right.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And people on the train.
Speaker C:Okay.
Speaker A:Late 90s, early 2000s, anyway, doesn't so.
Speaker B:They set up camp for the night near the place. And there's a bunch of cats. And Gene looks at one and he's like, oh, what I wouldn't do for some meat. And then miyuki is like, don't you dare.
Speaker A:And she, I'll cut you too.
Speaker B:She's surrounded by all of the cats because she loves cats. As do I.
Speaker A:You hope.
Speaker B:And then they tell miyuki to go get something. I forget what. They just tell her to go get just get shopping. Yeah. So she leaves their little tent and she goes down the street just a little bit, and she just goes and then she gets the other two. And they see the house of the parents of the baby and it's burnt down and the door is still there. And Jean uses the keys, which they found in the locker to confirm that it is their house.
Speaker A:And it is.
Speaker B:And he does a little funny thing where he opens the door and he's like, Honey, I'm home.
Speaker A:And then the door collapses, falls down.
Speaker B:Funny but upsetting.
Speaker A:Just a little levity for you. Don't cry too early.
Speaker B:There was a lot of that in this movie. Yeah, it's just like this is deeply upsetting. But here's a goof.
Speaker C:Here's a goof.
Speaker A:You come with the trauma. A goof for your thoughts. Just one more goof.
Speaker B:This the next morning. And a woman comes to feed the cats. And she tells our trio about the couple. And she says, oh, I don't know where they are, but maybe my friend will. And then the friend comes, and we kind of get their backstory. She says that they went into debt and they had to leave and that they fought a lot and that he was mean when he was drunk and that sometimes they would see bruises. And then they were like, oh, no, on him. While they're like, this is going on in the background while we're getting other visuals of muki going through the rubble. All of them going through the rubble. And by the end of it, there's just, like a gang of middle aged women gossiping about these two people, which I thought was very funny. And then in the rubble, they find an address. So they take the train to find that place. And we also saw muki tear, like, a clipping off of a newspaper. And we are shown that it said, muki, angel came home. Love, dad. And I was like, oh, man. Oh, no. This is it.
Speaker A:Also, we didn't establish angel was the name of the cat. That's the name of the cat.
Speaker B:That's why I stopped taking notes. Taking notes. But my last note that I wrote was I love the realistic body types in this movie because there are a few of them, like kyoko the Bride and then few others. I just love it.
Speaker C:Yeah. They're able to devote more time to the characters and style them instead of just doing stock character types for it's not a high school anime. So they have like, 40 students that are just all the same bodies and replacing heads so they would put more time to it. Quality, quality work.
Speaker B:Yeah, I definitely stopped taking notes too early. But you know what?
Speaker A:That's fine.
Speaker B:We'll get through it.
Speaker C:And it's around here. They're in a shop, I believe. And it's when Jean confesses that he's like, maybe she's still out there. Maybe I'll find her one day. It's like, who's. Like, oh, my daughter's. Like, wait, I thought she was dead. nah. Well, what about your wife? As she probably remarried.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker A:Like what?
Speaker B:You're a filthy liar.
Speaker C:You've just been lying to us. Yeah. He's like, it wasn't like a bike race scheme. I just gambled it all away, kind of. After seeing the life that the baby's father had where he gambled, he racked up all this dead through gambling. He's kind of getting some self reflection here. And he confesses to Hannah and miyuki. And then we get a shot. They're still in the store. And then miyuki goes off on her own and goes to the payphone. That's how you know it's old. There's a payphone still. And she calls her dad and she calls him and she hears him answer, talking like, muki, is that you? Talk to me. You can come home. She hangs up and just can't really talk to him right now too much. But she's trying.
Speaker A:Yeah. As it's like dialing. She's rehearsing like, dad, I want to come home. And just can't bring herself to say it once he's on the line.
Speaker C:So then as she starts heading back to the store to meet up with Hannah and Jean, we cut to back to the store early and we see Jean and Hannah getting kicked out of the store because they're homeless and they've been sitting there for a while. And then there's just this asshole drunk, as is the norm here, apparently yelling at them, telling them to get out. And Gene starts fighting with them, and they all get dragged outside, and they start fighting outside when he sees them. And it's right around the time when an ambulance comes flying in and crashes into the store. So hey, miracle baby, save one again.
Speaker A:Yeah, this miracle baby made a drunk man acosta. So we got thrown out of a store just in time, thank goodness.
Speaker C:And I like, that the ambulance driver, like, gets out of the ambulance after crashing. He's like, call an ambulance.
Speaker B:We don't even know what happens. That just happens and we don't get any no.
Speaker A:Yeah, no. Immediately after this, we leave and never hear about it again.
Speaker C:And then Hannah says it's a sign from God and then immediately starts peaking. Blood. So check off red Lung hacking up blood. So they go to a hospital and Hannah get some treatment, and the doctor's talking to Dean about it. And it's like, nutrients, plenty of rest. Do this. He's like, we're homeless. Can't really do that. And doctors like, I could try and give you a medicine. Put that to it. I can't fix your life for you.
Speaker A:Just do what you can.
Speaker C:Yeah, basically, it's like, sorry, man. I can't help you out more than I already have.
Speaker B:He was pretty shitty about it.
Speaker C:He kind of had it too.
Speaker B:But his attitude was like, well, then stop being homeless.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:And it's like, well, sir, I feel.
Speaker C:Like because especially around the holidays and snowing outside, he's treated a lot of homeless people. And he's just like, I can't keep doing I can only do so much. I want to do more, but I can't. Yeah.
Speaker A:He literally says, I fix disease. I can't fix your lifestyle. Yeah.
Speaker C:But Hannah gets treatment and they get the medicine. And it was ¥30,000, which is all the money they had.
Speaker A:And oh, yeah, we in the shop. We sort of glossed over this. He says he wanted he was saving up money. He saved up ¥30,000 to send to his daughter to reconnect. Yeah, okay.
Speaker C:I missed that taking note because it's subbed.
Speaker A:Yeah, no, there was a lot of info in that scene with the whole yeah, I lied about my backstory. So yeah, this was all the money he saved up to give his daughter.
Speaker C:And by some miracle, baby jingles over the money that he saved up to give his daughter. He gives it to the nurse, turns.
Speaker A:Out to be his daughter, and her name is kyoko.
Speaker C:Take a drink. So he reconnects with her. We get a little shout of hana and miyuki down the hallway, sitting and waiting. And then it's gina and his daughter by a window, kind of, like, talking and reconnecting. And his daughter says they went out looking for him. And she said, it was tough for me and mom to run the bike shop by ourselves, and we weren't able to keep up with it, so we had to move and sell the shop and stuff. And hanna is hearing all this, and she's like, what the fuck? Like, all of it.
Speaker A:None of it's true.
Speaker C:He wasn't even a racer. He had a bike shop and, like, all this shit. And his family still loved him and was out looking for him, but he was acting as if they abandoned him and stuff or he abandoned them. And kyoka says, like, oh, hey, by the way, I'm getting married, as his traditions with kyoka is in this movie. And she's like, hit me up when he can. And she gives him her phone number saying, like, I know you're not in a great spot now, but whenever you can, I'd love to still stay in contact with you. Hannah is just like, all right, I'm done. Fuck you.
Speaker A:Fuck you.
Speaker B:You're cool.
Speaker C:Mostly just on jean. Mostly just goes off on him. You did it to yourself. You caused yourself the problems with gambling. You pushed your family away and then you ran away. And now you've given us all this shit, saying how much you've lost and creating all this stop story of saying your wife and daughter were dead, even though they weren't. You just want a sympathy because of your mistake. And Hannah just goes off and is 100% accurate. And then Hannah leaves and mikey runs after her and me kind of sees her. It's like, you love him. You wouldn't be that upset if you didn't have deep emotions for him. Hannah kind of pauses and just kind of gives her meeky story and just like the story of the red ogre and the blue ogre, which is a story we are familiar with because of my love story.
Speaker A:It's like a messenger from God was telling me, hey, you should finish this series.
Speaker B:I love that. We've seen enough things now, though, that.
Speaker A:We can remember motifs, seeing Japanese fairy tale, just focus, come together because you.
Speaker B:Feel I mean, we know all of that in, like, American media, but it's cool.
Speaker C:We should all go to Japan and try and blend in naturally with the culture.
Speaker A:No, it'll go fine.
Speaker C:I already got to Saw.
Speaker A:Hang on. I know about kafas and I know about the red ogre and blue. Drop me in the middle of a field somewhere I'll find my way home.
Speaker B:I know how to say, do you speak English? In Japanese, which I feel like is all you need.
Speaker A:Help me, please.
Speaker C:I'm a dumb lost tourist. So, yeah, how to give the story, like, the red ogre and blue ogre kind of saying, like, I'm the blue oer. In this situation, I make the red ogre look like I come off as the bad guy so the red ogor looks nice, so the red ocean can be reconnected with the family and stuff. So I'll take that hit, I'll come off as the bad guy if Jean can reconnect with his daughter over it. And then while Gene is still in the hospital, he sees an apb out for the baby. Like, hey, someone stole a baby from a hospital. Oh, no. Oh, boy. Oh, jeez.
Speaker A:Wow. That's just like our thing. That's happening anyway. Changes the chance. Oh, wow.
Speaker B:Crazy COVID to them.
Speaker A:Two babies in one city.
Speaker C:And Hannah goes to the police now saying like, all right, we found out about the parents, we found out the reasoning, I'm fine with that. Like, let's just turn the baby over. We can't be doing this. I think mostly because hannah's thinking, like, we lost Jean so the two of us can't raise a baby. So hannah's talking while she's walking on the bridge kind of talking. I was kind of confused. I think I missed the beginning of this kind of monologue. But she's talking about killing herself.
Speaker B:She was saying that's probably what the parents are doing. That's how terrible they feel.
Speaker A:Losing the baby.
Speaker C:Okay. Yeah, I just came in the middle of them. She's suicidal. Then what happens when she's talking about, like, if I lost the baby, I'd get up on the bridge, take my shoes off, look out over on the water, and just get a sense of peace and just throw myself off and just abandon all cares, like if I can't take care of a child. And coincidentally, while she's saying that, there's a woman on the bridge behind them doing that exact same thing. And they notice that and run over and grab her and pull her off. And it's like, you good. No, don't do it. And as they're talking, the woman sees the baby and hey, it's the baby's mom.
Speaker B:Hey.
Speaker A:What?
Speaker C:It's exactly what Hannah was saying. And then she's like, oh, god. She's like, oh god, my baby. Like, I abandoned her. And Hannah just red cross the face, just knocks some scents into her and just like, you bitch.
Speaker A:How dare you?
Speaker C:What the fuck is wrong? And dude and gives her, like, a good tongue lashing as well, which is fair. She abandoned the child.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:So they give the baby back to the woman and they're just like, all right, you're the mom.
Speaker B:Her story the woman's story, sachko, okay, is that her husband took the baby while she was, like, in the hospital still and put it in the garbage.
Speaker C:Okay.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So I think that's why they felt okay about giving her back to her, because she was like, it wasn't me. It was my husband.
Speaker C:Got you. Okay. This is a section. I was taking notes, so I was looking down. I'll ask that I missed that far. Thank you. Okay. So they feel better about getting her the baby back. So they do. And they're just like, oh, god. Going to miss that little kid who've they known for about, like 12 hours.
Speaker A:Now, I think two days at least.
Speaker B:It's almost the new year now.
Speaker C:Is it?
Speaker A:Yeahtery, the timeline is true. messed up because we're shown just several days, but it goes from Christmas to New Year. So it should be like a week that passes. But it's not that long.
Speaker C:Got you. I thought it was all in one day.
Speaker A:Yeah. The way it's presented, it feels like maybe two, three days at the time.
Speaker C:Okay. And then we come back to Jean. He goes to hunt down the baby's dad, and he finds a place, and it's just this apartment that's just full of garbage, just a hoarder pit and just real nasty. And he says he starts railing into him, being like, the hell's wrong with you? You abandon your child and stuff. He's like, oh, no, it's hers. It's not even my kid. He's like, what? He's like, yeah, it's not my kid. And that's kind of like a cliffhanger. We get we cut back to Hannah miyuki, and they're waving goodbye to the lady and the baby holding back those tears.
Speaker A:I'm a miserable friend.
Speaker C:We bonded so much.
Speaker B:I loved how much sniffling there was in this movie.
Speaker C:It's not like the anime cry where the face is like completely stoic and like stone face. And it just tears are pouring out like a river. This is like the ugly cry.
Speaker A:What does he get? Like, no. Yeah, the facial animation in this, especially in Hannah, is so good.
Speaker C:Very prime, a lot of exaggerated features. And it's very good. And then we come back to the baby's dad saying like, oh, yeah, my wife is just nuts and stole a baby from a hospital. And she was just like, what the fuck? What do you mean she just stole a baby? And he's remembering the ATB he saw earlier about the baby that was stolen from a hospital. And he just keeps yelling at the guy. And he's just like, oh god. And the guy says he's like, well, where's your wife now? And she's like, oh, she went out with the baby saying she needs, like, time by herself and she took the baby with her. And he's just like, oh god, she's going to kill herself and the baby with her. So he runs out and steals a bike. And he goes off to try and hunt down this lady and the baby. And while he's, like riding the bike around, he's like Tokyo drifting around in the snow. And he runs in the Hannah and miyuki again. And he's like all out of breath because of the bike. And he's like trying to destroy he's like, I'm trying to find them out there. Let's go. And they run off after her and they start searching for the baby, hunting down all the cries they can find because all babies sound the same. You don't get a lot of babies mixed up. So and then they finally find her at like a playground where she's trying to breastfeed the baby. And it's just not taking because that ain't her baby.
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker A:You lady did that to the other danger. Danger.
Speaker B:Also not friendly. The other lady was friendly. When she put her boob in my mouth, I liked her energy. You bad vibes.
Speaker C:Spanish was comforting to me.
Speaker A:This seesaw is cold.
Speaker C:I had a buddy with the other lady. We were chill. So they find the lady at the playground and they're just like, hey, that's not your baby. And she's like, a fuck and runs off.
Speaker A:Scram.
Speaker C:And then she starts running. She sees this delivery guy unloading the truck. She's like, oh, cool. I committed one crime. Let me steal a truck along with this baby.
Speaker A:So for a penny and for a.
Speaker C:Bath, the lady steals a truck. And it starts just driving off. At this point, they run past the guy, runs up to a cop and be like, that lady just stole my truck. And then Jean Hannah me run through and say that the stolen babies. Like, what the fuck?
Speaker B:This part was so good, though, because Jean, they run up to the no, the guy runs up to the policeman and he says, that lady stole my truck. And the policeman is like, what? And then Jean walks by and steals a bike. And then the policeman is like, thief. Which is very good because he's a homeless man. Police hate the homeless. Good commentary. Good joke.
Speaker A:And then as he says that and is like, yeah, she is. She told the baby.
Speaker C:So they go running after him and jean's on the bike, so he's got a little head start on the truck. And as they run a bike oh, I just summarize this in my notes because it's a fucking car chase. It's good, but jean's on the bike. hana and miyuki end up catching the taxi guy they got earlier and roping him into it. And they're chasing after him in a taxi.
Speaker B:He is loyal. He's stan a loyal king.
Speaker C:He's definitely in it reluctantly, but he still does it.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker C:So they get a big chasing between a truck, a bike, and a taxi. And Jean is able to grab on and he gets onto the side of the truck, and the woman tries to, like she goes through a tunnel and tries to, like, run him into the wall and try and scrape Gene off. And he's able to the bike is destroyed, but he's able to hide onto the front of the truck. And then he climbs into the cab and tries to stop her. Like, you stole a baby and a truck. You don't need to stop lady. And then, as is a theme with this movie, crashes into a building, running trends. Trucks hate buildings. And we see that Gene was able to grab a hold of kyoko and roll out of the truck and keep her safe, but he's knocked out from it. And as they're recovering, the woman, like, staggers out of the truck and steals the baby again. And then the taxi drives into the building as well. But because there's already a hole cleared out, it's able to actually fit in fine, and it's chasing her down the hallway in a taxi. And then muki jumps out and starts climbing up the stairs after her as the ladies in the elevator, and she ends up going up to the roof. As is all very tense, dramatic moments at the end of a movie. And we see when she's up on the roof, there's a news helicopter is up there, too. So they're able to follow. I guess the exciting incident was either the truck being stolen or the truck being driven into the building. And then that's when the news helicopter shows up and it's covering it. And so they got a spotlight on her. We got a bunch of cops on the ground, and they're all looking up, and the woman goes to the edge and goes to the jump because she was about to do that, like, an hour ago. So take two. And miki is able to get up there just in time.
Speaker B:Let's try this one more.
Speaker C:Try try again.
Speaker B:Like an into the spiderverse. Okay, let's try this one more time.
Speaker C:Suicide. So she's up on the ledge of the building, and muki runs up, like, out of breath because she just climbed up all these stairs. And it's like, stop. And she tries talking her down. It's not really like talking her down. Like, you got so much to live, or you got to take her. She's kind of like, you fucked up. You can't kill this baby with you. I liked that that muki wasn't like, sugarcoating it and saying, you can come back from this, and trying to help the lady. She was like she's pretty much like, give me the baby. I don't care what you do, just don't kill the baby with you.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:And this is when the lady kind of breaks down and kind of collapses and was like, oh, maybe we got her. Maybe she's having, like, a turn of heart. And she's saying, I lost my baby in the hospital. I gave birth to it, and I was already dead. But all the other babies were healthy, and it wasn't fair, but if I just had a baby, I'd be fine. So I just took this one, and as long as I keep her, I'll be fine. And everything's going to work out, and my husband will get a job, and he'll clean up his act. And we'll start turning everything around and just clearly, like, very delusional and talked herself into this frenzy manner. And Mike is just kind of like, yeah, no, it's not good, and not going to happen.
Speaker B:That's not how it works.
Speaker C:You can't just steal people's babies. She's able to talk her down a bit more. She's able to get closer to her. And the home is kind of just like, huh, I guess you're right. Off I go. And she's about to jump her husband's down on the ground floor and yells up to her, like, no, stop. We can make this work. I'll turn my life around.
Speaker A:Don't worry.
Speaker C:Don't jump. She's like, yeah, you're right. We can be reborn and new as, like, new people. After I kill myself and jumps and right at the last second. And you keep able to catch her and hold on to her. And then there's too much weight, so these boats start going over, and then Jean and Hannah get out there, and Jean is able to grab her. But then with all the grabbing and jostling, the baby falls out of her hands.
Speaker B:Just a very stressful feature.
Speaker C:Can't have a baby dying. So Hannah jumps off the rooftop and just dives down for the baby and catches herself and then stops on a lead, and it's like, all right, I think we're good. whoop slips, and it keeps falling, then grabs, like, a banner that's hanging down the whole side of the building. It's like, all right, I think we're good now.
Speaker B:We're good.
Speaker A:Safe.
Speaker C:The banner starts roofing. It's just like, okay, my heart can't take it.
Speaker A:No. I was like, if you do all of these vaudevillian gags and end up killing her, I'm going to be so mad. If you're like, oh, slipping. Car would drive safely on the ground. Yeah.
Speaker C:Catches a tree branch.
Speaker A:The brain's free falls in an open manhole.
Speaker C:Just jumps up. If they survive, it was very tense moments. If they die, this is the most insulting death pop.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker C:So as she's on the banner, it starts ripping down, and she starts falling with the baby still. And then out of nowhere, just an uptraft comes and just woof and catches the banner. And she's able to ride the uptraft down the whole way, creating, like, a little parachute, and lands safely with the baby. The miracle baby that saved Christmas.
Speaker A:Thank God.
Speaker B:Loves that baby.
Speaker A:Good baby.
Speaker C:So then it cuts to a hospital, where we see the baby reunited with her actual parents, and the baby's all safe and sound. And it cuts to and the parents are talking with police investigators because a lady just stole her baby. So they contacted the police right away. And then it cuts to Hannah jeannie, and miko and amiki in the hospital, and they're recovering too, from their whole ordeal. They did just crash a truck through a building, so they're recovering there, and they're just like, oh, God, shit sucks. They're like, yeah, they're changing the baby's name from kyoko. And they're like, I disapprove of that, but it's okay.
Speaker A:Understandable.
Speaker C:But I don't like it.
Speaker A:You know, everyone in this town has that name.
Speaker C:It's a trend. It's so popular right now. And while they're talking, we see outside the door and investigators there with the parents of the baby, and they're like, I don't know about this. They might not want to be positive right now. I heard their situation. They are homeless, and the parents are like, yeah, cool. They're still the godfathers. They literally saved our child's life. I'm making all three of them godfathers. Even the teenage girl.
Speaker A:Weird. They didn't just go with God parents. There's a teenage girl and a woman.
Speaker C:And they're like, no, we still want them to be ya fathers. Like, they're our first choice. All right. And the cop opens the door and say, hey, guys, the parents here want to make you godfathers. It turns out the cop of Miuki's dad.
Speaker A:Reunited. This was a roller coaster for sure.
Speaker B:It felt like an eternity, but not in a bad way.
Speaker C:Just so much. But it was entertaining the whole time.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah. I was, like, just waiting because we get so many hints of like, shit is about to go very bad, so it never fully does.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:So it just gives you that tension. Of that first watch of, like, who's dying? Someone is dying before the end of this movie, but no one does, thankfully, which is so good. Yeah.
Speaker B:It's like I was saying about satoshi Cohen made it, so it's just like someone's eye. Yeah, he was just like, I'm going to make people feel upset every five minutes, but then it's going to be okay. I'm just going to mess with people on this one.
Speaker A:I'll give you enough goof to feel good moments and no one will die.
Speaker C:Killing people is too easy. I want to manipulate people and emotionally kill them.
Speaker A:We should revise that. Old bearded homeless man. Did die. Did die.
Speaker C:Did die.
Speaker A:So we did have one death. That's true.
Speaker C:That's true.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker C:But we do get, like, a lattice of, like, Hannah coughing out blood. And it's like, oh, and then we get Jean being the holy hell, and the old guy just died. He's not looking great and just collapse in our alley.
Speaker A:It's like also, one thing we missed, the bag the homeless man gives to Gene is he says, like, get rid of this. I don't want anyone to know who I am in the hospital. At the very end, they pull something out of a pocket. That bag fills out and it's full of cash.
Speaker C:I miss that entirely.
Speaker A:Yeah, it was just a very quick scene at the end, but it was stuffed with money. Got you. Yeah. It was like.
Speaker C:A bunch of bills.
Speaker A:Thousands of bills.
Speaker C:Is he a crime lord?
Speaker B:Is he Santa? He did look a little bit like Santa.
Speaker C:Talk out of like, Santa and drunk.
Speaker A:That's every mall Santa I've met.
Speaker B:Well, anyway.
Speaker A:How are we feeling?
Speaker C:Are we there yet?
Speaker B:I hate having to see you say it. I liked it.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:I heard nothing but praise for this movie, so I expected it at least to be decent, regardless if it was our cup of tea or not. But I didn't expect it to be the forbidden last year episode. Yeah, I expected at least quality. Plus, it was the same team that did Perfect Blue, and we all liked that. As upsetting as it was, it was still a good movie.
Speaker A:It was still well done. I had strong fear of a late 90s movie with a trans main character. What are you talking about? This is not going to go well. But besides that, like, playful homophobia we mentioned it's well done. They didn't kill her off and go. That's what you get. So there were some rough bits, but it was overall more wholesome than I was expecting in that regard.
Speaker B:Yeah, it was a lot. I think that's mostly how I feel about it.
Speaker A:I enjoyed it, but it was a lot.
Speaker B:Especially with all of the teasing of like, will someone die? And you're like, I don't know, because my heart can't take up.
Speaker A:You're setting up so many people who can die. Yeah, I feel. Like, definitely getting the first watch out of the way is helpful because I feel like now if I've presented with, do you want to watch this? I'm like, yes, because I know it's going to end with and I feel.
Speaker C:Like we saw with, like, in the very beginning when they find the baby and there was those accidents that happened around Hannah that didn't actually happen to her. I feel like there's more Easter eggs or like teaser stuff like stuff like that. Like little hidden things. They really put the details in that you just wouldn't have caught in the first viewing of this movie. Like, there's probably a lot more that I'll catch. Right? Like, I mean, I was taking notes for you, but you guys said, I think, like three or four scenes I just did not catch, like, the context for.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker C:So yeah, there's just a lot happening. But it is good. I was going to say it's not overwhelming, but it absolutely is overwhelming. But it's still enjoyable. It's not like sensory overwhelming. It's just plot heavy.
Speaker B:It'D probably be really good to watch again without having to take notes.
Speaker A:Yeah. For a leisurely watch, I feel like this is definitely something I would recommend.
Speaker B:Yeah.
